New Jersey homeowners finding success with ValueAppeal

Around mid-March, our phones at ValueAppeal started ringing off the hook, and it seemed like nine out of every 10 calls was from New Jersey.

It made sense, as the property tax appeal window for New Jersey closed on April 1 and many homeowners wanted to get their forms in to their county and township in time.

Not only does New Jersey have some of the highest tax rates in the country, but the state does not make appealing easy. Those who have gone through the process know you have to send copies to both the county and the local township, and those copies have to be on legal-sized paper (8½ by 14). You have to know where and how to track down the block and lot number for comparable homes to use as your evidence.

The good news for those New Jersey homeowners is that ValueAppeal did most of the work for them, providing them with the forms and instructions as well as the evidence and support in finding the block and lot numbers. It was still up to the homeowner to find the right-sized paper and get it mailed to the right place, but that didn’t seem to be a big issue.

Now that more than a month-and-a-half has passed since the appeal window closed, we checked in on our New Jersey clients and were thrilled with what we found. Our success rate on a nationwide scale since we started helping homeowners save on their property taxes has been around 80 percent. In New Jersey for this year, we’ve had a 93 percent success rate! That’s a truly astonishing and exciting figure, and really gratifying for us.

We’ve heard from a few of our clients who were happy with the service we provided. Most pointed to the outstanding customer service they received in helping them navigate through the sometimes confusing process.

Michael K. of Wycoff said he found the idea of paying ValueAppeal’s $99 fee along with the full money-back guarantee for the potential of saving several thousand dollars to be worth it, adding “There was really nothing to lose. It was easy, all the comps were there and were very accurate. …It gave me a lot of compelling arguments to go into the appeal with.”

Mr. Schilling of Brigantine liked ValueAppeal’s one-time fee rather than the practice of collecting a percentage of any savings on top of the fee that many companies employ, and recommended ValueAppeal to a friend.

There are still many clients in New Jersey who are still awaiting word on their appeal, but the early results are incredibly encouraging for us and them. If you’ve used our service, let us know how it went, we love to get feedback and hear results. And if you haven’t had a chance to use ValueAppeal yet, log on to www.valueappeal.com and see if you might be able to join our growing list of clients who are saving hundreds and sometimes thousands of dollars on their property tax payments.
